CHARLES SZYMKOWICZ: INTIMACY AND THE WORLD

    • When Dec 10, 2021 10:00 AM to Mar 06, 2022 06:00 PM (Europe/Brussels / UTC100)

Charles Szymkowicz showcases two major facets of his work through a carefully curated selection of pieces, which narrate his relationship with intimacy and the world in a fertile dialogue. Portraits of loved ones and artists he admires – including painters, sculptors, composers, poets, writers and philosophers – share space with emotions that our tormented world inspire in him. The artist showcases both sides in this rich, bilateral exchange, as well as various aspects of his humanist leanings.

However, permanence serves as a common thread and inspires the artist to his creative core. Against all odds, he maintains a sense of originality that is often seen as going against the grain, a sense of originality that makes no concessions and showcases a startling, complete sincerity to the audience.

Faced with the challenge of being true to himself, in a cultural setting where trends dictate everything, Charles Szymkowicz has an irrepressible, all-consuming passion for the image of the “struggling artist”, an artist who is excluded and therefore does not conform to the fashions of the time, or seek the approval of the masses.

Striving towards self-realisation at all costs, and presenting himself openly to the world, is the path that this artist has chosen to follow, like all great masters.
