In 1835, the young César Franck (barely 12 years old, he had just turned 12 on 10 December 1834!) gave his first public concerts in Liege. Patrick Dheur and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden bring these moving moments to life. Franck performed the solo part of Hummel's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the request of the Société Grétry, which was raising funds to erect the statue that now stands in front of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège. A week earlier, the young César had stunned the audience in Herz's fearsome Variations brillantes. The 2nd Duo on Grétry's opera Lucile and the famous and touching Prélude, fugue et variation complete this youthful panorama.
