Association internationale des Maires francophones [AIMF] (association of mayors from French-speaking cities) The AIMF is a network made up of almost 200 towns and cities and associations of towns and cities that works to develop local authorities. Its mission is to encourage exchange of feedback and to fund concrete cooperation projects. Association des Villes et Régions hôtes d'Expositions internationales [A.V.E.] (association of World Fair hosting cities and regions) The association's objective is to create a platform for exchanges between the municipalities that have organised a World Fair. Its aim is to contribute to developing close cooperation between the member cities and regions to generate greater knowledge of the exhibitions. International networks > Community of Ariane Cities [CVA] The Community of Ariane Cities, created in Kourou on 17th July 1998 on the initiative of Arianespace, is a non-profit making association which draws its driving force from its commitment to European construction and its attachment to the Ariane programme. The Meuse-Rhine Euroregion Foundation Created in 1976 as a working group, the MEUSE-RHINE EUROREGION is one of the oldest cross-border cooperation partnerships. In 1991, the Euregion obtained legal status by becoming a Foundation under Dutch law. The MAHHL Cities Since 1976, the Meuse-Rhine Euregion is a cross-border region that brings together three countries (Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands) as well as five sub-regions: the Belgian provinces of Limburg (761,500 inhabitants) and Liège (1,000,000 inhabitants), the southern part of the Dutch Limburg province (793,000 inhabitants), the Region of Aachen (1,200,000 inhabitants) and the German-speaking community in Belgium which joined the Euregion in June 1992, to become the 5th partner. Association of European Cities and Regions for Culture - Encounters This is a European network that brings together elected representatives in charge of culture in the cities, regions and provinces of Europe. It currently boasts almost 170 members including many Belgian local authorities, among which are the Cities of Brussels, Charleroi, Namur, Mons and Liège. United Cities and Local Governments [U.C.L.G.] This international organisation is devoted to promoting the values, objectives and interests of cities and local governments throughout the world. European Coalition of Cities Against Racism The European Coalition of Cities Against Racism is an initiative launched by UNESCO in March 2004. Energy-Cities Energy Cities is the European association of local authorities that are inventing their energetic future. Created in 1990, Energy Cities represents more than 1000 cities in 30 European countries. The City of Liège has been a member of Energy Cities since 2007. International Federation for Housing and Planning [I.F.H P.] The aim of the "International Garden Cities & Town Planning Federation", as the IFHP was originally called, was to promote this concept and generally improve the profession of housing and planning through international exchanges of knowledge and experience. European Forum for Urban Security For its members, and sometimes with the assistance of other partners, the Forum organises audits, transfer of skills or technical assistance in developing a local security plan, which is a necessary tool for decision-making. Liège has signed up to the "Security, Democracy and Cities" manifesto. World Health Organisation Healthy Cities Network Created under the auspices of the OMS, the Healthy Cities bring together cities that are in particular looking to constantly improve the quality of their environment, foster the development of a united community that participates in city life, and act in favour of health for all as well as reducing inequality. Standing Committee for Euro-Mediterranean Partnership of the Local and Regional Authorities [COPPEM] COPPEM (the Standing Committee for Euro-Mediterranean Partnership of the Local and Regional Authorities), is a network of Euro-Mediterranean Local Authorities and National Associations of Local Authorities, based in Palermo (Italy). It promotes both dialogue and cooperation for local development between towns, municipalities, Local Authorities and Regions of the member Countries of the Euro Mediterranean Partnership, and their active and concrete participation in achieving the objectives established within the Barcelona Declaration of 1995. LUCI, a worldwide network Since the end of 2001, the City of Liège has enlisted its approach to the use of light in all its purposes (as a utility, for security, tourism or as a sign of identity) at the heart of the work conducted by the various committees of this international network of cities.
