Association of European Cities and Regions for Culture - Encounters

This is a European network that brings together elected representatives in charge of culture in the cities, regions and provinces of Europe. It currently boasts almost 170 members including many Belgian local authorities, among which are the Cities of Brussels, Charleroi, Namur, Mons and Liège.

Encounters is a platform for cooperation, debate and action in the field of cultural policy in the cities, counties, departments, regions and provinces. It encourages the implementation of genuine cultural approaches and consequently it participates in building European culture, guiding debate of ideas in such a manner as to establish a notion of European citizenship. The association works in close collaboration with experts, universities, cultural networks, associations of elected representatives and artists, with whom it carries out veritable research work.
