Nancy is a large city in the east of France (in the Grand Est region) and has a population of more than 100,000 in a conurbation of almost 350,000 inhabitants.

 

 

With its many higher education establishments, including three universities, it is the 5th biggest university city in France.

A city of art and history, it boasts a significant amount of museums and architectural heritage (three public squares dating from the 18th century are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites and it was an notable hotbed of Art Nouveau in France). This exceptional setting boasts top-quality cultural institutions and organisations (a symphonic orchestra, opera, jazz festival, national theatre, etc.).

Liège and Nancy

The oldest twinning with Liège (1954) is characterised by exchanges between the people of the two cities (school cooperation, annual classic motorbike rally, etc.), as well as cultural and academic cooperation.
